The Great Sphinx, Gobekli Tepe, and the Origins of Civilization

Utilizing his geological expertise, in the 1990s Dr. Robert Schoch (Ph.D. in geology and geophysics, Yale University) determined that the core-body of the Sphinx dates back thousands of years earlier than the standard attribution of 2500 BCE, upending the conventional chronology of when and where civilization began. Subsequent research has confirmed Dr. Schoch’s original findings. The head of the Sphinx was re-carved in dynastic times, and there is a chamber, found seismically and still unexplored, under the left paw of the Sphinx. An older Sphinx ties in with celestial alignments found on the Giza Plateau, and we are now aware of other structures in Egypt that date back to this earlier period. The implications of these discoveries are profound, forcing a re-writing of our early history. In Northern Mesopotamia (modern Turkey) is located the incredible site of Göbekli Tepe. Discovered subsequent to Dr. Schoch’s initial re-dating of the Sphinx, and currently being excavated by Dr. Klaus Schmidt of the German Archaeological Institute, Göbekli Tepe dates back to the end of the last ice age, an astounding 11,000 to 12,000 years ago, confirming many of Dr. Schoch’s original speculations on how far back civilization goes.
